In the quest for greater control over our analytics infrastructure and to ensure full compliance with GDPR, we embarked on a journey to replace Google Analytics with a custom-built user tracking service. This talk chronicles our experience at Delivery Hero, where we not only achieved a seamless transition but also significantly improved data quality and completeness—while cutting costs by more than half.

To validate our solution, we benchmarked it against Google Analytics and other industry competitors. We’ll share the real-world challenges we faced, from ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data sent to stabilizing mobile SDKs across platforms. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the architectural decisions, development challenges, and lessons learned that made this project a success.

Whether you’re considering building your own analytics system or looking to optimize your current setup, this session offers insights into creating a reliable and scalable solution tailored to your business needs.
